About the event
Seminars in Anaesthesia: Preparing Your Theatre.
A pre-use check to ensure the correct functioning of anaesthetic equipment is essential to patient safety. It must be emphasised that an unprepared theatre and failure to check the anaesthetic machine features as a major contributory factor in many anaesthetic misadventures, including some that have resulted in hypoxic brain damage or death. The anaesthetist has a primary responsibility to understand the function of the anaesthetic equipment and to check it before use. The Clinical Care Platform recognises the importance of these safety checks, and knowledge of them may improve the quality and safety of anaesthetic services.
