Dr Luvo Fatman is a medical doctor who has vast experience in the field of cytopathology. She has been part of the cytopathology unit in Braamfontein (Wits Anatomical Pathology) for more than 15 years. She obtained her MBChB from the University of KwaZulu Natal; and MSc cytopathology (cum laude) from the University of Stellenbosch. She is a lecturer at Wits University and an affiliate at Stellenbosch University. She is involved in training of medical technologists and registrars rotating in cytopathology. She is involved in FNA training of clinicians, doctors and nursing personnel. She oversees the FNA service in the Johannesburg region and surrounding areas which includes running of multiple FNA clinics in teaching hospitals as well as peripheral clinics. She has been involved in various FNA training programmes, both palpation and ultrasound guided. Her areas of interest include thyroid cytopathology and paediatric cytology. She is involved in multiple clinicopathologic multidisciplinary teams in various tertiary institutions. She also supervises and co-supervises post graduate research. She is involved in various academic teaching and training platforms.
