Dr Michael Ferreirinha is a specialist psychiatrist. He completed his medical degree at the University of Pretoria in 2016, developing a strong interest in psychiatry during his internship in Pietermaritzburg. He subsequently completed community service at Barberton Hospital, where he worked primarily across outpatient and emergency settings, including outreach to correctional facilities as part of district service delivery. During this time, he also established an outpatient mental health clinic and a Mental Health Committee aimed at improving service delivery. In 2021. Dr Ferreirinha pursued formal psychiatric training at Weskoppies Hospital and Steve Biko Academic Hospital. This training shaped his clinical approach, with a strong emphasis on individualised, patient-centred care, and ensuring patients are given the time and space to be heard.
