Ms. Crystal Theron
Social Worker / Director Le-Shika Dev and Training
Ms. Crystal Theron, a Social Worker with over 38 years of experience in the Child and Family Care field, heads up her own Consultancy Le-Shika Development and Training that aims to set new benchmarks in the development and training agenda for Social Workers, Social Services, and other professionals.
In view of her previously holding a senior position at the Office on the Rights of the Child in the President's Office, she served on the National Task Team responsible for drafting the Children's Act and currently forms part of National Forum hosted by the Department of Social Development, responsible for developing the various amendments to the Children's Act. She has also presented various papers on a national and international level regarding issues affecting children in South Africa.
Crystal is an acclaimed Consultant and dynamic training specialist, having travelled the length and breadth of South Africa conducting capacity building workshops with over 18 000 Social Workers and other professionals working directly and indirectly with children over the past decade. Having served at the various levels within Government, she is not only regarded as a Children's specialist, but also has thorough knowledge and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the key Departments, sectors and disciplines within the child protection environment.
Her energy and professional presentations are regularly acknowledged as the most practical, useful and informative in the Social welfare sector. She is widely regarded amongst her peers as: "A formidable source of inspiration and knowledge, as well as an Ambassador for the Social Work profession.
