Dr Phindile Mteshana

Paediatric Neurologist MBChB (UCT), DCH, FCPaed, MMed (UCT), Cert PaedNeuroI Johannesburg, South Africa

Dr Phindile Mteshana is a highly respected paediatric neurologist and academic based in Johannesburg, South Africa. She currently serves as the Acting Clinical Head of Paediatric Neurology at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital and is a lecturer in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits). She obtained her MBChB degree from the University of Cape Town (UCT) and has extensive expertise in paediatric neurology, with particular clinical interests in paediatric epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, neuro-infections, and neuro- metabolic disorders. In addition to her clinical and academic responsibilities, Dr Mteshana is actively involved in clinical research focused on neurological presentations and disorders in children, contributing to the advancement of evidence-based paediatric care in South Africa. Beyond medicine, she is a dedicated marathon runner and has successfully completed four Comrades Marathons, reflecting her discipline, resilience, and commitment both professionally and personally.
